The Archives
Our main project is The Archives Project, previously known as the Wiki. To centralise all our information, we moved The Archives to our website, where we will try to put out information regularly. People, locations, documents, everything related to the Bokkenrijders can be added to The Archives!
While on the wiki everyone could edit, we now kindly ask you to send your Archive pages or edits to our e-mail.
Project Sleinada
Another project is Project Sleinada, where we transcribe, translate and annotate the first book about the Bokkenrijders ("Oorsprong, oorzaeke, bewys en ontdekkinge van een godlooze bezwoorne bende, nagtdieven en knevelaers, binnen de landen van overmaeze en aenpaelende landstreeken ontdekt, met een nauwkeurig getal der geexcuteerde en vlugtelingen" by S. J. P. Sleinada from 1779).
On September 29th, 2022, we finished transcribing the book and the physical copy was published on October 16th. You can download the PDF below. We expect to publish the translations to Dutch and English next year.
Christmas Fair
Exciting news: Project Bokkenrijders has been invited to take part in the annual Christmas fair in the Fluweelengrot (Velvet Cave) in Valkenburg! (Also known as the biggest indoor Christmas fair in the Netherlands.) International visitors are very welcome, so come take a look if you're in the area! We'll be there every weekend between November 18th and December 30th of 2022.
Story Routes
Learning about the Bokkenrijders through a story - that's the idea of the Story Routes. The stories will be availiable both as a written story and as a story read by the author. We're currently working on a route for children and adults near Valkenburg and a route for adults near Kerkrade/Herzogenrath.
The Bokkenrijders Map
The Archives and the Bokkenrijders Map are our two permanent projects. Due to the immense amount of information we don't think they'll ever be finished. The Bokkenrijders Map is a Google Map where we put 'pins' with information at every place related to the history of the Bokkenrijders, so people can create their own nice walking route, or maybe just visit an interesting place.
